A Church with a Mission

Jesus commanded his disciples to proclaim the gospel and to call people from all nations to follow Him (Matthew 28:18-20). Every Christian has the responsibility and privilege of representing Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. As a church, we seek to participate in God's mission both locally and globally. We recognize the importance of meeting people's physical, social, and spiritual needs, while pointing to Jesus Christ himself as God's provision for our greatest need.

God has placed our church in downtown New Haven. But we know that our church by itself can’t reach our whole city (let alone the world)! We have established partnerships with other churches and ministries, sharing financial, volunteer, and prayer support in order to see Christ’s name exalted.

Local Ministry Partners

We are particularly committed to investing in ministries among university students, international residents, and the poor in our city.

We are walking distance from Yale, and less than fifteen minutes drive from five other universities. We support campus ministers through organizations such as Cru, InterVarsity, and the Rivendell Institute.

New Haven welcomes hundreds of refugees each year, along with scholars and visitors from countries otherwise closed to the gospel. We have joined with members of the International Church at Yale to offer Alpha courses for international students & scholars.

One quarter of New Haven residents live in material poverty. We support ministries with the poor such as Bridges of HopeAll Nations Christian Academy, The 180 Center and the Hope Child Development Center.

Regional & Global Ministry Partners

Regionally, we partner with the Connecticut Baptist Association to plant new churches, help struggling churches, and equip growing churches. In 2015, we had the privilege of commissioning the founding pastor and members of Shoreline Community Bible Church in New London.

Finally, God has called some from our own congregation to proclaim the gospel in other parts of the world. Many of our ministry partners serve in sensitive contexts, so we cannot publicly post all the details. However, we currently support Christian workers serving with Doulos CommunityPeople International, Greater Europe Missionthe Southern Baptist International Mission Board, and other ministries.

If you want to pray regularly for our local and global missionaries, please contact the church office to be added to the e-mail prayer list.
